Building Adaptive and Resilient Organisations

Our people and Organisations consulting team has considerable experience working with people as part of a group or as individuals to build their resilience and thereby create adaptive organisations. Our team has a wealth of practical experience and a sound reputation in the provision of quality consultancy support across public, private and not-for-profit sectors in Ireland. We bring the expertise of experienced Leaders, Organisational Development Consultants, Human Resource Specialists, Change Agents, Project Managers and Chartered Occupational Psychologists.

At Goldblatt McGuigan we implement change and improvement that has staying power. To acheive this we tailor our services to provide a three-dimensional offering that incorporates an understanding of context, individuals throughout the organisation, and the organisation as a whole. Our approach is always evidence-based and bespoke as we understand that one size rarely fits all. Consequently we underpin change with diagnostics when appropriate to ensure the solutions we deliver are the right ones. Our support can be described in the following mutually dependent categories:

An adaptive organisation is one which has accountability, authority and responsiblity in place at the right levels to respond quickly and effectively to challenge and change whilst continuing to deliver the required service and results.

It strikes a balance between flexibility and alignment. Alignment requires everybody's activities to directly support the organisation's stated goals, wheras flexibility allows some 'play' in that alignment. Therefore there is a dynamic tension between the two. A truly adaptive organisation is better for customers, staff and stakeholders alike.

Typically an adaptive organisation will have the following characteristics:

The team at Goldblatt McGuigan is experienced in working with organisations to develop these characteristics. We believe that long term sustainability is founded in the resilience of organisations and their people. Our People and Organisations professionals have the depth and bredth of experience to develop resilience in organisations, preparing them for the uncertainties and change associated with the future. These organisations are then able to adapt quickly and capitalise on change where appropriate, ensuring a more positive outcome.

We have the capabilities to support both the hard issues of implementation and the people-associated issues of change to ensure that solutions are implementable and sustainable, leading to real improvement for the entire organisation. We provide advice and support to develop the new skills and /or help facilitate the shift in behaviour required to make a change programme successful in the long term, including the required culture, capability and leadership. We underpin all our assignments with robust programme and project management to help implement the changes, with quality assured.

Planned strategic interventions bring about significant improvements and enhance organisational effectiveness. We help to build people and organisational capacity and capability in line with strategy- including assessment centres (selecction and development), performance management, management and leadership development and executive coaching. This strategic alignment ensures that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. We use a range of diagnostics and have the capacity to design and run selection and assessment centres that underpin these interventions when appropriate.

At Goldblatt McGuigan we believe in linking our interventions with tangible results and work with clients to agree in advance the required outputs from any programmes we are undertaking with them and how these will be measured.
